Training in Fourways for 50 graduates

SPONSORED PROGRAM FOR 50 UNEMPLOYED COMMERCE GRADUATES
No experience needed

The South African Institute of Business Accountants, SAIBA, has contracted SA Accounting Academy to assist it to run a program to help Unemployed Commerce Graduates enter into employment and to achieve the professional designation of Business Accountant BA (SA), as registered with SAQA. Successful graduates will start with a 4-month training program, then become employed within SAIBA member accounting firms, complete the requirements to become a BA (SA) over the next 7 to 9 months, and by March / April 2020, become fully registered Business Accountants.

This program is for Black African individuals and is sponsored by Fasset.

Qualifications (No experience needed)

To qualify for the program:

oYou must be a Commerce Graduate from a recognized tertiary institute in South Africa, (BCom, BCom, BAcc, BTech or National Diploma). Tertiary institute means a University or University of Technology. This includes CTA or Honours students.
oInitial preference will be given if you have Accounts 3, if you do not, we will definitely still be interested in your application because the designation of Business Accountant BA (SA) can accommodate those with other commercial majors.
oYou must not currently be employed in permanent employment for the last 6 months.
oYou must be prepared to 1) enter into an employment contract with a SAIBA member accounting firm, or as suggested, 2) you must want to become a Business Accountant.
oYou must be available to do the training during the months specified.
oNOTE: Relocation, accommodation, travel and meal costs are not covered by our program. You will need to arrange to have these costs covered while on the 4 months of training.

The Program:

oTrainee Business Accountants will be required to complete a four-month program of training (Monday to Friday for the full period), and then on to employment within the profession, followed by a 7 to 9-month period of mentoring and monitoring whilst you achieve the balance of the Business Accountant Professional Designation requirements.
oThe courses cover all the Business Accountant qualification requirements of both a theoretical and practical nature. Modules include Work-Experience and Life Skills blended with practical accounting skills, a full workplace orientation and basic computer skills.
oThe four–month training will commence in early June 2019 and will end at the end of September 2019. From there, the program continues, while you are employed, through to March/April 2020.
oActual work experience will be gained both on the training program and whilst in the workplace.
oPlease note that disabled applicants are welcome to apply for this program.
oRural graduates are encouraged to apply. If you are from outside of the greater Fourways area, you will need to arrange your situation so that you can attend in Fourways, full-time, for 4 months. Placement into employment can be arranged back in your home town areas, depending upon participation by accounting firms near those areas. SAIBA members, and therefore potential employers, are spread nationally in all provinces. For example, if you are based in Limpopo or Northwest, you may apply if you can attend the training full-time. Once completed, employment will be made, with participating firms, back in your home province.

Employment

Our target is to assist all program participants to find sustainable employment by entering the accounting profession, by being employed by Business Accountants in Practice. The end objective is that you will start off as a graduate with no experience, become trained, gain experience and finally achieve the valuable professional designation of Business Accountant BA (SA).

To Apply

Applicants will be assessed and chosen using a simple qualification process based on the information above.

Initial applications can be made by sending a CV through to projects@saiba.org.za
